Redwood Sculpture: Geoffrey Bolt Redwood Burl Sculpture

Geoffrey Bolt redwood burl sculpture. Bolt lives and works in Northern California and is know for his sculptures and baskets. He was a student of Sebastopol wood turner, Chuck McLaughlin. This signed fine hand made work measures 9 1/2” tall, 11” wide, and 1 ¾” deep and the over-all work measures 11” tall, 11” wide, and 5” deep at the base. The central piece is created from two pieces of California coastal redwood, which can be up to 2,500 years old and is only found in a limited isolated zone in northern California to the Oregon border. The piece most probably dates from the 1980’s.
